Aftercare scar camouflage tattoo for the treated area requires the same care as with any other kind of micropigmentation: do not soak treated area the first 5-10 days, do not rip off the scabs, work with ointments, avoid visiting the sauna/pool and do not apply decorative cosmetics and creams on the area of exposure until complete healing.
After Camouflage Tattoo with Ink: AFTERCARE SCAR CAMOUFLAGE TATTOO
Things to remember:
- Redness, swelling, or feeling sunburnt is a normal reaction
- The scars are colorful when they heal. First week the color will be darker and gradually fade around 40%
- Apply the layer Aquaphor on top x twice a day
- Avoid using soap, towels, or Luffa to clean treated areas for 2 weeks to maintain camouflage
- Use your hands gently to clean the area
- No thigh clothes, jeans, or bra rubbing off for a week
- No bath, hot sauna, hot yoga, and indoor swim with chlorine for a week
- No sun exposure or sun tanning beds for the entire healing process (42 days)
- No picking scabs. Skin gets crusty while healing.
- No water on the treated area for 3 days (apply Aquaphor on 3rd day before shower)
Pigment protection:
- The recommendation is for all clients to use sunscreen (minimum SPF 15) during sun exposure.
- The area that has been camouflaged may stay lighter in the Sun compared to the rest of the skin that is tanning because the sun does not tan a pigment. This means that if the skin tans, the camouflage will still blend better than before.
- Clients should always come in at their most regular skin tone to ensure the perfect color match.
- Do a gel pack cold compress during the first 2 days, 5-10 mins on and off, cooled from the refrigerator, not the freezer.
- Apply Aquaphor 1-2 times a day. Nighttime is mostly important.
